Kristine Kainer - Fine Artist
“Wanderlust” is a word often used to describe award-winning artist Kristine Scharf Kainer. Born in North Carolina, Kristine led the lifestyle of a typical military dependent. Her father, an officer in the United States Marine Corps, was transferred frequently throughout the East Coast. As a result, Kristine was exposed to the inherent beauty of each locale in which she lived. The family eventually settled in the Washington, D.C. area where Kristine happily immersed herself in its natural and cultural diversity. These formative years would later ignite an artistic spark....
In 1986, Kristine graduated from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Though she dabbled in art for relaxation, she never considered using her talents professionally. Instead, she earned her M.Ed. from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and pursued a career as a mathematics teacher.
After marriage, Kristine’s wanderlust returned. Entranced by the natural beauty of Central Texas, she and her husband purchased the Kainer homestead in rural Schulenburg to enjoy a slower pace of life while raising their daughter.
Now a full-time artist, Kristine specializes in oils, acrylics, watercolors, and charcoal. Additionally, she offers private lessons to persons of all ages and abilities in Georgetown and Schulenburg and teaches summer art camp in Fayetteville. As for her wanderlust, it appears to be finally sated—or is it?
